TENORI-ON, a unique new digital musical instrument
This device, called a TENORI-ON was developed by media artist Toshio Iwai and Yamaha, who collaborated to design a new digital musical instrument for the 21st century. What they came up with is “a unique 16 x 16 LED button matrix performance instrument with a stunning visual display. For DJs & producers it is a unique performance tool enabling them to perform using MIDI and load the TENORI-ON with samples to ‘jam / improvise’ within their set BPMs.”
Looks pretty darn funky now… Kinda retro in a way, like some kind of early 80’s handheld videogame, just a whole lot more complex. Way cool. Only available in the UK so far, I think. You can learn more at http://www.global.yamaha.com/tenori-on/what/index.html
